Haruka Weiser's Funeral: People Urged to Remember Remarkable Not Sad Life
"Suffering and violence and death does not have the last word," priest tells the assembled.

Hundreds gathered to say farewell to Haruka Weiser, the teenager from Beaverton who was killed at the University of Texas-Austin where she was a freshman dance major.
"Suffering and violence and death does not have the last word," Father David Gutmann told the assembled.
"One single, random act of violence has inspired thousands of acts of compassion and led to an outpouring of love. Death and evil do not have the last word."

Weiser graduated last year from Beaverton's Arts and Communications Magnet Academy.

She is survived by her parents and a younger brother and sister.
Her younger brother, who spoke on behalf of the family. asked the crowd to remember the joy that his sister brought,
"She will live forever," he said. "She will never die."
Haruki's family and the school are setting up a scholarship fund in her honor.
