🌱Highway 26 Shooting + Man Found Dead In Downtown Hillsboro

Welcome back, Beaverton! Let's get this Saturday started. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening in town today.


First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy, a little rain. High: 51 Low: 41.


Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. There were three shootings Thursday and Friday in the Portland area, including one in Hillsboro. Police responded to a parking lot near the Hillsboro Medical Center in the early morning of April 8 to find a young man dead. More details about the incident haven't been released yet. (KOIN 6 via Portland Tribune)
  2. Five low-income housing developments in Washington County will soon get some upgrades. The County approved bonds for up to $73 million for housing repairs. Included in the project is Aloha Park, an 80-unit complex in unincorporated Washington County just outside Beaverton.   3. Spring is springing! If the fresh season is inspiring you to tackle home and garden tasks, check out a round-up of home and garden events in the area over at OregonLive. Highlights include a class on Gardening for Cut Flowers, hosted by the Blooming Junction Garden Center in Cornelius, and a Weed Watcher Workshop from the Tualatin Soil & Water Conservation District to help you identify high priority weeds.
  4. ICYMI: A family says someone shot at them while they were driving Highway 26 on Wednesday. No one was hit by a bullet, but windows shattered all over those in the vehicle. The incident occurred near the Cornelius Pass Road exit. (KOIN 6)
  5. Washington County Land Use and Transportation shared to expect nighttime lane closures near the Cornelius Pass Road/Evergreen Parkway intersection from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. April 11-22. The agency also offered some tips to avoid distracted driving in the latest LUT Newsletter.

  • Cal Scott - This month's 2nd Saturday Community Concert @ Winona Grange in Tualatin includes an award-winning singer-songwriter, musician and composer. $30 at the door. (7:30 p.m.)
  • NASSIM - The Reser hosts an innovative show featuring new actors at every performance and no rehearsals. $25. (7:30 p.m.)

  • Meet a local tree on the City of Beaverton's Instagram. Located along the Westside Trail, this giant, gnarly Oregon White Oak was recently nominated for a 2022 Urban Forestry Significant Tree Restoration Grant.
