Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- Beaverton Police report a hit and run on 5th near Main. The driver fled after damaging a power pole, causing a brief outage. (@beaverton_police)
- Local Beaverton woman, Monica Linder, is participating in a program called Second Home, which locates housing for homeless teens within private residences, Max Egener reports. An alternative to the foster system, Second Home works like a leasing program with youth as tenants, though there is no fee. (Forest Grove News Times)
- Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue firefighters reported to Evanbrook Apartments in the Cedar Mill area last night. The cause of the fire and extent of the damage has not yet been reported. (@latte1995)
- Washington County Park Rangers issue a reminder about water safety ahead of the holiday weekend. As people head to lakes, streams and rivers, officials say to remain cautious about life jacket usage and cold water temperatures. (KGW)
