Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Homicide in Hillsboro: Police are investigating a domestic violence-related homicide that occurred in Northeast Hillsboro near Griffin Oaks Park. After responding to a CPR call, police discovered a victim deceased in the home. Jose Luis Ruiz-Santiago, 29, is being held in the Washington County Jail on charges of second degree murder.   2. OHSU released a COVID-19 hospitalization infographic for August 30 that includes data from both Pill Hill and the Hillsboro Medical Center (formerly Tuality). Of the 60 people hospitalized in both facilities, 11 are breakthrough cases of vaccinated individuals (18 percent). Twenty-five people are in the ICU, and 18 are on ventilators. Of those people hospitalized, about 70 percent are under the age of 60. (Twitter)
  3. Nike's move to close corporate offices for a week-long mental health break is getting attention across the nation. A New York Post article highlighted the apparel company's reasoning behind the decision. Senior Manager Mike Marazzo said the company wanted to acknowledge that "we can prioritize mental health and still get work done," as well as the need to be realistic following rough times living through a pandemic.
  4. Oregon beers scored big at the North American Brewers Association Beer Fest on Saturday, with breweries from our state taking home 25 gold medals in 89 categories. Representing Washington County was Tualatin's Ancestry Brewing, which won bronze for its Irish-style red ale. Breakside Brewery of Portland/Milwaukie collected a total of 17 awards, eight of them gold. (KOIN)
  5. If you usually pay your water bill in person and you're in Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD), you might need to make a few changes. TVWD announced Monday that it will no longer be accepting in-person payments due to the COVID surge. Alternative payment options include paying by phone, mail or through the agency's customer service portal. (Twitter)
