Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:
- Five generations of showing draft horses in Aloha are coming to an end. The McInnis family used to take their Clydesdales to regional events, such as the Rose Parade, the Oregon State Fair and the Washington State Fair. The pandemic shut down many of those opportunities, reducing the family's income. Development has also struck its blow: Michael McInnis says a highway is set to run through the farm in the near future. The family has sold all but one of their horses. (KPTV)
- Thinking about shopping for a new home? Check out an article that gives a breakdown on the housing market in the Portland Metro area (Portland, Vancouver and Beaverton). The most common type of house for sale is between $300,000 and $500,000 with about three bedrooms and 1,500 square feet. There are still some options for bargain-hunters, though, with about 1,600 homes on the market under $200,000. The article notes that nearly all homes in the area (90 percent) sell within one month. (KTVZ)
- Remember the good ol' days in early June when many companies in the area were targeting a mid-September return-to-office? Kelcie Grega reports on how the COVID-19 Delta variant changed plans for a large number of regional employers, including the cities of Beaverton and Hillsboro as well as Nike. Intel officials say they're incentivizing vaccination, although return-to-work plans are left up to managers at each work site. (Pamplin Media Group)
