Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. A local team is heading to the wheelchair basketball national championships this upcoming week. The Junior Wheel Blazers are on a roll, ready to showcase their skills at the tournament in Wichita after two years' hiatus because of the pandemic. Players come from schools throughout the region, including Central Catholic, Tigard High School and Scappoose High School. (Fox 12 Oregon)
  2. Get a sneak peek of the inaugural gallery exhibition at the Reser Center, "Celilo, Never Silenced." The Dalles Dam's construction in 1957 obliterated Celilo Falls and the adjacent village. Artists featured in the exhibition explore the impact of the infrastructure project and historical memories of the populations it destroyed. (Oregon ArtsWatch)
  3. Beaverton's Hapa Pizza is getting more positive press, this time in an article from Oregon Public Broadcasting. Writer Stephen Tonthat shares how creating Asian-inspired pies became an outlet for owner Aaron Truong to explore his childhood struggles with his Asian identity. Through Hapa Pizza, Truong was able to learn to celebrate his heritage.
