🌱 K9 Officer Foils Burglar + Jesuit Grad Wins Golfer Of The Year

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Happy Thursday, Beaverton! Here's everything you need to know around Beaverton today.

First, today's weather:

A wintry mix, 1-2 inches. High: 39 Low: 29.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. A Beaverton K9 Officer foiled plans for a burglar earlier this week, reports Colin Miner. Along with his human partner Officer Dan Coulson, Atlas responded to a robbery at Black Hole Body Piercing and Tattoo early Tuesday. Atlas led officers to a nearby Motel 6 on Southwest Canyon Road, where the pair discovered Fabian Albert Hernandez, 31, in possession of goods reported stolen from the tattoo parlor. (Beaverton Patch)
  2. A local golfer has been named PNGA Woman's Player of the Year. Mary Scott Wolfe is a Jesuit grad and currently tees up under the Gonzaga Bulldog's banner. She attributes much of her success to her time with the coaches at Skout Golf, a training program based in Aloha and Tigard that focuses on the development of junior golfers. 3. Get the latest on road conditions over at KATU.com. Even though roadways throughout the area appear to be clearing, there are lingering patches of snow and ice, especially in higher-elevation areas like the West Hills. Residents say they've been in some slippery, scary situations as they venture out for work and errands. Tap the article link to get access to a list of roads plowed by PBOT. For roads nearer to the heart of Beaverton, check out WashCo's list of activated Snow Zones.
  4. Lots of tournaments around the state happened over the last week or so, and our local teams didn't fare too well. Check out West Salem's surprise win over Beaverton at the Capitol City Classic tournament (via Polkio.com). There was also the Clackamas Cavaliers' routing of Mountainside girls at the Pacific Office Automation Holiday Classic. (via Scorebooklive.com).
  5. Service was suspended Monday and Tuesday for Meal on Wheels. Officials said they canceled all meal deliveries in Multnomah, Washington and Clark Counties due to snow and ice. Luckily, the service had provided shelf-stable meals earlier in the year for emergency situations such as this. (KATU.com)
