Morning rain; clouds breaking. High: 56 Low: 43.
Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:
- Health officials reported an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in the Murrayhill area of Beaverton on Thursday. Six people living within two miles Murray Boulevard and Scholls Ferry Road tested positive for the illness. The source of the bacteria that causes Legionnaires' has not been identified. Get more details at Beaverton Patch.
- Beaverton School District's need for substitute teachers has been all over local news lately, as the district seeks to fill 'hundreds' of openings. Get another angle from reporter Dan McCarthy over at KATU. Although Oregon reduced the statewide minimum requirements for substitutes earlier this month, BSD says they are not considering applicants who do not hold a bachelor's degree at this time. New hires are in line for a cash bonus plus 18 percent higher pay than was offered last year.
- Head over to KPTV.com to see if you can help police identify a bank robbery suspect. Police say the suspect passed a note to a teller on October 15 at about 4:00 PM at the Columbia Bank on Southwest Tualatin Sherwood Road. Security cameras captured images of the individual who witnesses say left the scene in a gray Acura sedan with Oregon license plates.
- Get the latest from City Hall at Your Beaverton. Updates include details about a City Council work session with THPRD, plans for a Día de los Muertos event at Garden Home Recreation Center and where to drop all those pretty fall leaves that are quickly blanketing the ground. The newsletter also features a list of job openings at the City.
- Do you have your Tualatin Valley Ale Trail passport yet? KOIN's Kohr Harlan offers a glimpse of one of the historic breweries featured in the program — Ancestry Brewing, where local hops distinguish the brews. Click over to TualatinValley.org to request your free passport and then head out to one of the 22 Washington County beer-centric destinations (enjoy responsibly, of course).
