🌱Legionnaire's Investigation Closes + Top Beaverton Food Carts
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

Welcome back, Beaverton! I'm calling today's Daily the "Mostly Foodie Edition" because most of the news revolves around our area's glorious food scene. There's a little extra, though, like the finale of the investigation into the Legionnaire's outbreak and Nike's return to work plans. So, here goes: all the things you need to get this Friday, November 17, started off right!
First, today's weather:
Cloudy. High: 44 Low: 39.
Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- Washington County has closed the book on its investigation into Legionnaires' outbreak in the Murrayhill area. County health officer Dr. Christina Baumann reports that "No additional cases of Legionnaires have been reported over the past seven weeks, so we believe there is no longer a threat to the public and are closing our investigation." The agency did discover contamination in an area hot tub, but it was not named definitively as the source of the outbreak. (KGW.com)
- Portland Monthly profiles nine Beaverton food carts that are good enough to draw a crowd no matter the weather. Good news for everyone: four of the carts are at BG Food Cartel, and three are at the Eating Pod off TV Highway. Avenue Saint Charles, Abuela Chona and Tacos El Patron are among the spots that made the list.
- Two locally-pertinent tidbits were found in Portland Business Journal's Five Things for Thursday: news about Dave's Hot Chicken opening in Beaverton and Nike's return to office plans. Business Insider reported that the apparel giant has tentative plans for folks to return to in-person work in January, although the plan isn't meeting great enthusiasm from workers. As for where to find poultry of the spicy, fast-casual variety, Dave's Hot Chicken will open its Cedar Hills location on Sunday.
- A local drinking establishment had a rough weekend thanks to a storm that knocked out power. Andre Meunier gives the details on the would've-been 10th anniversary celebration for Uptown Beer Co. on Saturday. Never fear: the party was rescheduled for this upcoming Saturday, December 18. More good news: Uptown's in-house brewery, Binary, is scheduled to open this spring in downtown Beaverton. (Oregon Brews and News)
- Westview High School senior wide receiver Darrius Clemons had a tough choice recently when he had to choose from five scholarships: Auburn, Penn State, Michigan, Miami and Oregon. In the end, Clemons picked Michigan on early signing day. Read more about his success and other Metro League student-athletes at KPTV.com.
