Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Beaverton High School student Clara Johnson, 17, will have her piece entitled "Xenophobia" displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building. Johnson won first place for Oregon's First Congressional District in the 2021 Congressional Art Competition, Gaby Urenda reports. (Beaverton Valley Times)
  2. Mark Egener reports Washington County Circuit Court Judge Jim L. Fun is retiring after 15 years on the bench, beginning September 30, 2021. Governor Kate Brown will appoint a replacement for Fun. (Sherwood Gazette)
  3. Syndicate Wine Bar announced late last week that construction on an expansion would begin next month, with sponsorship opportunities available. The popular wine bar's update will feature an open-air design with dual roll-up garage doors, in addition to dedicated club seating. (@syndicatewine)
  4. Beer is booming in Beaverton, reports Jason Notte. A Portland Monthly article points to possible migrations/expansions of Breakside Brewery and Von Ebert Brewing to join Great Notion, Ex Novo, Binary and other recent beer-centric arrivals. (Portland Monthly)
  5. The 2nd Annual Tualatin Valley Trail Online Open House is active, and the THPRD Team is accepting public comments through June 7. The goal is to identify an optimal route between 160th Avenue and 209th Avenue. (Tualatin Valley Trail)
