The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

Hey, people of Beaverton! It's me again, Ash DeMello, your host of the Beaverton Daily.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 49 Low: 31.
Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- With just 2.3 seconds left in overtime during Thursday's game, the Mavericks' Dylan Westlake lobbed the ball and closed the game in epic style. Watch the half-court buzzer-beater that lifted Mountainside boys over Jesuit via OregonLive (subscription required).
- Multiple Beaverton neighborhood groups are organizing to help preserve a piece of land with historic significance. The 52-acre former Alpenrose Farm is slated to become a 193-lot housing development. Locals would like more say in the planning process. Read all about it at KOIN.com.
- Beaverton School District posted what seemed to be a response to the OPB article from Thursday that indicated a decline in graduation rates in BSD in 2021. The district's social post countered by saying district grad rates were actually up 3 percent overall since before the pandemic. The post also noted other promising numbers, including lower dropout rates. (Instagram)
- Keep tabs on the local housing market with help from the Beaverton Patch's list of the latest housing info, including recent median home prices by ZIP code. Then, check out the KGW.com article about the hottest neighborhoods in the area. Washington County comes in second in Oregon for priciest homes, with Bethany and Northwest Heights leading the way.
- Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) leaders from Beaverton and Portland met recently with the local Tongan community. The groups gathered to organize sending aid following the recent volcano eruption and tsunami. One community member noted that the gesture was especially meaningful because so many Tongans live in Portland. (KOIN.com)
