🌱Mayor Voices Opinion On Incoming Gov + BMW Sedan Lures Kids

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Rise and shine, Beaverton! Here's everything you need to know to get this Sunday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny. High: 54 Low: 32.

Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Beaverton's mayor voiced her opinion on the qualifications for the next governor via KATU. Lacey Beaty says Oregon's next chief needs to focus on the pathway to homeownership since owning a home can lead to generational wealth. Alternatively, she links a lack of resources such as homeownership to homelessness.
  2. The iconic Gerry Frank offers a lineup of local spots to indulge your sweet tooth, which includes downtown Beaverton's Mo Cha Tea House. Frank calls out the restaurant's "not so mini" brick toasts as standout menu options. (OregonLive)
  3. The One Book, One Beaverton endeavor culminated on Saturday with a Beaverton City Library event featuring Jess Walter, author of Cold Millions. If literary events such as this are your go-to, check out a list of similar options over at OregonLive.
  4. Washington County courts convened three prominent trials in the first week of February, including that of Lisa Ann Akers. Police say Akers shot two individuals at a residence in unincorporated Washington County on June 19, 2020, killing one. Circuit Court Judge Janelle Factora Wipper declared a mistrial on February 3, pending a mental health evaluation. 5. The Washington County Sheriff's Office says it's on the lookout for a man accused of luring children with candy. Deputies say they've received two reports of a man approaching kids in a newer-model blue BMW sedan. One incident took place on January 31 in Forest Grove, and the other took place on February 4 in North Plains. (Twitter)
