(Patch Media)

Happy Saturday, neighbors! Here's everything going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

Cloudy. High: 64 Low: 49.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. TriMet MAX Train 120 marked a milestone this month. The agency reports that the train celebrated 2 million miles traveled since its opening in 1985. The vehicle is slated for well-deserved retirement within the next year. Other TriMet news includes the "Better Red" project, funded by a $99.9 million federal grant, which will add ten Red Line stops on the Westside. (RailwayAge Magazine)
  2. The mayors of Beaverton and Tigard call for road safety investments in an OpEd published by Pamplin Media Group (click here if you have a paid subscription; click here for free access using your WCCLS account). The duo cites deadly hit-and-run events that occurred on March 4 and March 15 in the two cities as incentives to continue pursuing roadway improvements and collaboration between local and federal agencies.
  3. Find out more about how a local woman survived a home invasion attack over at KGW.com. Lauren Carrier credits her neighbors for tracking down the man who stabbed her ten times three weeks ago, later identified as 27-year-old Bryan Andrew Aguilera of Woodburn.
  4. Washington County LUT News wants you to know that the time for using studded tires is coming to a close. After March 31, those still using the traction devices may face a fine of $165.
  5. Did you know you can now check Washington County road conditions on TripCheck? Eight new local weather stations allow users to check temperature, wind speed and direction, dew point and visibility. (Washington County LUT News)
