
BEAVERTON, OR — The City of Beaverton has named Jim Monger as police chief. Monger has been the police department's interim chief since July, Oregon Live is reporting. He was officially chosen Thursday. Monger, 55, is a 30-year member of the Beaverton Police Department and served as captain from 2013 until he was named interim police chief.
"It is a privilege to serve this community and I am honored to have this opportunity to lead the department I've called home for more than 30 years," said Monger in a statement.
He was previously a Beaverton patrol officer, sergeant and lieutenant and is a Marine Corps veteran.
