🌱New WashCo Transitional Shelter Proposed + Rental Demand Skyrockets
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

Hello again, friends! I'm back in your inbox this morning with your new edition of the Beaverton Daily. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening locally.
First, today's weather:
Rain; cool in the morning. High: 59 Low: 48.
Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- A new homeless facility has been proposed for Washington County. The founder of Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers, which has locations across Oregon, said his transitional shelter model can be an effective part of the solution to the challenges the region is facing. The organization's leadership has yet to find a location for a new facility, but at least two local politicians appear supportive. (KOIN.com)
- A Jesuit High senior won a 2022 local Congressional art competition, Colin Miner reports. Sophia Gard's "Learning to Fly," will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year, and she'll get to travel to Washington D.C. for a special awards ceremony. Beaverton High School senior Chloe Peck's haunting "Ghost Classroom" received an honorable mention. Click over to Beaverton Patch to see images of both pieces.
- Oyatsupan Bakery (16025 SW Regatta Ln.) was listed as one of the ten reasons to visit Portland, Oregon, by Forbes — even though it's in Beaverton! Writer Katie Chang celebrates Oyatsupan's scratch-made menu, particularly the beef curry donuts and "pillowy-soft" sweet milk bread.
- Real estate expert Sam Tenenbaum talks about what makes the Portland area a sought-after market for multi-family homes at Multi-Housing News. He attributes the region's success to still being more affordable than other West Coast metros, such as Seattle and San Francisco. He also gives a shoutout to "the Silicon Forest of Beaverton and Hillsboro" — locales that have drawn people throughout the pandemic. Tenenbaum says occupancy rates in Beaverton, sometimes nearly as high as 97%, have surpassed the rest of the Metro area.
- As growing season advances, there are more and more (delicious, beautiful, local) reasons to visit our area's farmers markets. The Washington County Visitors Association shared a roundup of these artisanal, veggie-filled attractions. The site lists ten markets in the region that are open all summer long and what local produce to look forward to each month. (Tualatin Valley: Our Oregon)
