No Danger Seen in Tuberculosis Diagnosis at Sunset High School
"This is not a medical emergency," the community is told. "There is not an outbreak of TB in the school community."
A person connected to Sunset High School in Beaverton is being treated for tuberculosis, according to Washington County Public Health officials. They did not elaborate if it was a student or staff member.
"There is no reason to believe this person caught TB at the school," a health official wrote in a letter sent to parents, students, guardians and staff.
"This is not a medical emergency. There is not an "outbreak" of TB in the school community."

Health officials are contacting people who may have been in contact with the infected person. They say that if you're not contacted, "you do not need to do anything at this time."
While tuberculosis seems to harken back to earlier times, officials say that there are still about 40 cases a year in the Portland metro area.
