🌱Old Town Wine Walk + Washington County K9 Trials

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Good morning, Beaverton! Let's get this Saturday started off right. Here are the most important things going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and beautiful. High: 72 Low: 47.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Washington County Sheriff's deputies were called to the intersection of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Southwest Hillsboro Highway to check on a truck seemingly parked in the middle of the road early Friday morning. Deputies say that when they approached the vehicle, the driver was apparently sleeping, and there were signs of intoxication. Upon awaking, the driver allegedly rammed the police vehicles in an attempt to flee the scene. No one was injured, and the driver was arrested. (KOIN.com)
  2. And here's more roadway chaos to start your morning: Police say David Curtis, 30, was driving a stolen vehicle Thursday night in Clark County when he fled from officers and crossed the state line into Oregon. Curtis was later arrested in Washington County after he stopped in a parking lot on Southwest Hall Boulevard. (KATU.com)
  3. The Washington County K9 trials are happening today at Hillsboro Stadium! KPTV's Stephanie Kralevich interviewed Sergeant Danny Dipierto about the family-friendly event. The tournament promises obstacle courses, audience participation and lots of fun learning about these exceptionally well-trained dogs.
  4. It's growing season in Washington County, and WashCo's LUT News has some tips for driving safely when you encounter farm equipment on roadways. Remember, such equipment often won't be traveling more than 25 mph, so it's likely essential to slow down and approach with awareness. Also, some farm vehicles pull to the right before making a left turn — so don't assume the vehicle is pulling over to let you pass.
  5. The Oregon International Air Show: She Flies With Her Own Wings is this weekend! Click over to Twitter to hear from Captain Aimee "Rebel" Fiedler and Major Kristin "Beo" Wolfe, who explain how women are becoming more prominent in the field. This airshow is the first featuring all women pilots since 1947.
