Happy Thursday, people of Beaverton! Let's get you all caught up on what's happening locally to start today off on an informed note.

Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Are you ready to get your child vaccinated? Or are you looking for an adult shot ahead of the holidays? Beaverton Schools and Virginia Garcia Health Center have got you covered! Head over to a mobile vaccine clinic Friday afternoon at Aloha Huber Park K-8 School. Get more details at KATU.
  2. Winter homeless shelters in Beaverton and Tigard are opening soon, reports Kelcie Grega. The Beaverton shelter will occupy the Beaverton Community Center over on 5th Avenue until March 2022. It's slated to open November 15, operate 24/7 and offer three meals a day. Although administrators prefer not to turn anyone away, they do request advance registration if possible.   3. Beaverton High girls soccer is headed to the 6A championships after defeating Forest Grove on Tuesday. The Beavers' coach, Jennifer Kirwan, remarked that the team is "probably the most committed and emotionally resilient group I've ever worked with." They'll play Grant at Hillsboro Stadium on Saturday. (OregonLive)
  4. Take a look at the latest photos of the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts over at the Portland Business Journal. The post also features the latest mission statement from the facility's leadership, identifying the center as the "cultural heart" of the Beaverton community and committing to representation and equity through the arts. 'The Reser' is set to open Spring 2022.
  5. There's some resolution this week regarding the shooting death of a Bethany man in September of 2019. Philip Cloud's wife, Tracy Cloud, claimed she fired a gun at her husband in self-defense, but detectives grew suspicious as they followed through with their investigation. On Tuesday, a Washington County jury found Cloud guilty of murder after the trial revealed she had strong financial motives to kill her spouse. Cloud is scheduled to be sentenced on November 16.
