Phil Knight to Step Down as Nike Chairman in June
Makes announcement in interview with CNBC.

Phil Knight, the long-time face of Nike the company he founded decades ago, has announced he will step down as chairman of the company in June.
He made the announcement Tuesday in an interview with CNBC.
"I just have a philosophy that it's a lot better to step down two years early than two years late," he said.

Asked if it's hard to let go, Knight said, not yet.
"It may be in June," he said. "But right now, I'm at peace with it."

Over the weekend, CBS Sunday Morning broadcast an interview with Knight in which he said he would give away most of his fortune.
The interviews with Knight are part of his effort to promote his newly released autobiography, Shoe Dog.
