Police Cruiser Damaged By Drunk Driver: Washington County Sheriff

The deputy was outside his cruiser conducting a traffic stop when Dhivyasimhon Sridharan​ allegedly drove into its side early Sunday.

BEAVERTON, OR — A Portland man allegedly crashed into the side of Washington County Sheriff's Office patrol car while the deputy was performing a traffic stop along Highway 26 early Sunday. No injuries were reported.

Dhivyasimhon Sridharan, 26, was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol and cannabis) and careless driving, police said.

Just after 5:30 a.m. Oct. 29, a Washington County deputy was conducting a traffic stop on the Sunset Highway, between the Sylvan Hill exit and Highway 217, when Sridharan reportedly drove his 2006 Honda Civic into the side of the deputy's patrol car. The deputy was not in the car at the time of the crash, police said.

Beaverton police reportedly made the arrest and handled the investigation.
