Morning, neighbors! Ash DeMello here with a fresh edition of the Beaverton Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 56 Low: 44.

Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Congrats went out to a number of Beaverton student-athletes and coaches yesterday as Metro League announced its annual awardees. Beaverton High's Emily Rice was voted the Metro League Player of the Year alongside Beavers' coach Jennifer Kirwan, who garnered Coach of the Year. For the boys' teams, Mountainside's Tom Lathrop was voted Coach of the Year, and Jesuit's Drew Pederson earned Player of the Year honors. Get the rest of the details over at Pamplin Media Group (click here if you're a paid subscriber; click over here if you have free access via your WCCLS card).
  2. Looking for a pediatric shot? Need to get a booster? Pop-up clinics in Beaverton and Salem have got you covered! Both sites are offering first-round and booster vaccines. Locally, you can head over to the Tektronix parking lot Monday through Saturday afternoons and evenings to get taken care of! (KOIN.com)
  3. 'Porch Pirates' are becoming all too common throughout the Metro area, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office wants to do something about it. The agency's latest strategy is to place a GPS-equipped bait package on the porch of someone who has already had packages stolen. The GPS equipment will allow officers to track the package in the event it's stolen, hopefully snagging the culprit in the process. (KBND)
  4. More on 'Porch Piracy': Forest Grove police have shared images of an alleged 'pirate' caught in the act of stealing a package. The thief stole multiple packages from homes along Birch Avenue on Sunday. Click over to KATU to get a look at the individual and see if you can help officials capture the crook!
  5. TriMet's A Better Red project kicks off, and the City of Hillsboro reminds folks that there may be intermittent nighttime construction all this week near the Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport MAX Station. The project is set to create an additional connection from downtown Hillsboro to the Beaverton Transit Center and the Portland Airport beyond that. The enhancements are intended to increase system-wide reliability. (Twitter and TriMet)
