🌱 Recycling Drives At Sunset, Beaverton + Spring Plant Event Roundup
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

Morning, people of Beaverton! It's me again, Ash DeMello, your host of the Beaverton Daily.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 64 Low: 40.
Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- A shooting and vehicle crash occurred on Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway and Southwest Shattuck Road early Friday morning. Police reported that the injuries to the man involved did not appear to be life-threatening. No other details have been released. (KATU)
- The Beaverton School District is inviting community members to review Social Science Elementary Instructional Resources and provide input. Click over to the site to see the criteria and find links to the titles under consideration. (beaverton.k12.or.us)
- Are you getting the itch to get your hands dirty and take advantage of the rain-damp soils and gentle sunlight of the beautiful Oregon Spring that seems to be finally upon us? Check out OregonLive's rundown of plant sales, swaps and workshops coming up in the next few weeks. Close-to-home events include the Beaverton Garden Club Plant Sale in the St. Cecilia parking lot on April 30 and the Tualatin Valley Garden Club Plant Sale at the Hillsboro Farmers Market April 30 - May 7.
- A man crashed into a police car, a fence, an apartment building and other vehicles in Beaverton on Thursday morning without stopping to address the situations. The first crash occurred across the street from the police station at Southwest Allen Boulevard and Main Avenue. Police tracked the man to an apartment complex near 2nd Street and Franklin Avenue. He was arrested shortly thereafter. (Beaverton Patch)
- Sunset High School students were featured in the Beaverton Valley Times this week. The school's climate change club hosts bimonthly recycling drives in the area for hard-to-recycle items like batteries and styrofoam. The students say there was a learning curve (the first time was a bit of a mess) but they're getting the hang of it, and community members are appreciative for the resource.
