Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- Low inventory and high demand for multifamily housing continue in the Portland area, pushing rents even higher. Demand in the suburbs of Aloha and Vancouver gave those locales the lowest vacancy rates in the area. Read more about the recent Multifamily NW housing report that identified the problem over at the Portland Tribune.
- Writer Melissa Baron toured "bookish treasures" along the Pacific Coast Highway recently, including a visit to the dunes that inspired "Dune" and a detour to our own fair city. Baron applauds the Beaverton City Library's natural light and "wooden trees" that support the building. (Book Riot)
- Read a Beaverton resident's opinion on the formation of an animal shelter advisory board over at the Portland Tribune. Jan Asher writes that the Bonnie Hays Shelter/Washington County Animal Services aren't meeting the needs of residents who are forced to give up pets. Asher also believes that our community needs more in the way of pet food banks, emergency kennels, rabies clinics and other services civic agencies in other communities often provide.
- Reported Jenny Young shares more information on the alleged harassment that occurred over two years at a Beaverton condominium complex. The victim says notes left on her car by her neighbor "ruined her quality of life." The victim hired a private investigator to find out the identity of the perpetrator, who she is now suing for $250,000. (KOIN.com)
- Take a look at a roundup of the best Chinese food in Beaverton over at Moneyinc. The list included popular spots like Bethany's Taste of Sichuan and Walker Road's Szechuan Garden and Frank's Noodle House. It also featured a possibly lesser-known eatery: Asian Legend, a food cart at BG's Food Cartel.
