Well good morning Beaverton friends! I'm glad you stopped by to check out the latest in what's happening in town. In this edition of the Beaverton Daily, you'll find updates on an incoming addiction treatment center, the latest on an assault in Rock Creek and where to get a `70s throwback breakfast.

  1. The Washington County Sheriff’s office reports an assault on an elderly man in the Rock Creek area Friday afternoon. Witnesses say that a male suspect, identified as Gregory J. Bruemmer, 49, ran up to and violently shoved an 84-year-old male who was picking blackberries. The victim suffered life-threatening head injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Deputies took Bruemmer into custody shortly after the attack. (Twitter)
  2. The Cedar Mill News has provided some more information on the incoming comprehensive substance use treatment center. Approved by county commissioners in July, the Center for Addictions Triage and Treatment (CATT) will offer assessments, sobering, withdrawal management (detox), residential treatment and stabilization services. The facility will cost an estimated $72 million. The county has not yet identified a location. (Cedar Mill News)
  3. Hales Restaurant on TV Highway is celebrating its 50th year serving big breakfasts and other deliciousness. Tune into the KOIN interview to hear about its plans to celebrate, including a special throwback menu featuring 1971 prices. (KOIN)
  4. Get your walking shoes ready, folks! Washington County along with ODOT just published a plan for a future regional trail in the Aloha area, between Southwest 160th and 209th avenues. County commissioners acknowledged the plan at their meeting August 3, though it's been in the works for about ten years. (Pamplin Media Group)
