(Patch Media)

Get on up, Beaverton! It's Saturday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on today in town.

First, today's weather:

Cloudy, showers around; cool. High: 52 Low: 33.

Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. After a hit-and-run on the evening of April 11, neighbors in the Progress Ridge area are calling for changes to the roadway. Michael Frainey, husband, father and local umpire, was struck and killed near Southwest 157th and Barrows Road last Monday while taking a walk. Locals have already collected over 600 signatures via change.org, requesting safety improvements to Barrows. (KGW.com)
  2. The man accused of killing Sunset High School alum Amara Marluke has pleaded not guilty. Keenan Harpole, 20, entered the plea on Thursday, April 14, before a Multnomah County Circuit Court. Harpole and Marluke had previously been in a relationship, and both were students at PSU. (Patch)
  3. TJ Maxx, Salt & Straw, Next Level Burger, Rudy's Barbershop and other retailers are set to open in Beaverton's Cedar Hills Crossing, reports Jonathon Bach. The TJ Maxx store will occupy the former Old Navy space. (The Business Journals, subscription required)
  4. Get the latest on the trial of the Washington County-based writer accused of murdering her husband. In day seven of the Nancy Crampton Brophy hearings, her husband's son, Nathaniel Stillwater, took the stand. Stillwater testified that Crampton Brophy did not reach out to him about his father's death, nor did she respond to his calls. He is also pursuing a wrongful death lawsuit against his stepmother.
