Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- Beaverton schools have paused the Test to Stay program, according to a letter sent to the community on January 5. Much like many services these days, the document cites staffing shortages as the reason. BSD says it plans to resume the program on January 24. (KOIN.com)
- Get more details on one of the winners of the Beaverton Startup Challenge over at KOIN.com. CampsEZ streamlines dozens of Portland metro area sports teams and organizations and sign-up protocols such as concussion waivers and COVID-19 documents. CampsEZ creator Todd Williams says the idea was in response to the "nightmare" that many parents face when trying to navigate multiple children, multiple agencies and busy schedules.
- Friday night means Happy Hour for lots of folks, but that tradition might look a little different these days. Genevieve Reaume reports on the closure of many Portland-area restaurants as COVID-19 cases surge. Included in the list is the Dublin Pub on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. About the continuing need to close doors, one restaurant owner said, "It doesn't feel like we've made a whole lot of progress in two years." (KATU)
