(Patch Media)

Morning, Beaverton! Here's everything you need to know going on in town today to help you make this Thursday an awesome one!

First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 79 Low: 60.

Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:

  1. A lot has changed along Southwest Tile Flat Road, where some say you could've taken a nap in the road 20 years ago. Today, the story is much different: Development of South Cooper Mountain has brought lots more traffic as well as car accidents. The Beaverton planning commission will meet next Wednesday to make a final decision on possible street improvements. (Pamplin Media Group)
  2. A Beaverton massage therapist is under investigation by the Oregon State Board of Massage Therapists for 'inappropriate touching.' Police say two people came forward with details about massages they received from 50-year-old Somsay Cheun at the SC Massage Clinic in the Bethany area. Police request that other possible victims contact Detective C. Herring at cherring@beavertonoregon.gov. (KPTV.com)
  3. Beaverton Public Schools says it will enforce Governor Brown's mask mandate for in-person school, which was stated in a letter issued Tuesday. Megan Allison reports on parents' differing reactions to the news. (KPIC News)
  4. BKM Capital Partners of Newport, California, recently bought the Fry Distribution Center near the junction of Highways 26 and 217 for $15.4 million. BKM sees the move as a sound investment given the historically high occupancy rate. The company, which already oversees the nearby Tigard Business Park, plans to make cosmetic improvements and rebrand the buildings as the Beaverton Industrial Center. (theregistryps.com)
  5. Hunter Lee James Andrews, 28, was found guilty of five counts of first-degree sexual abuse on Friday in a Washington County court. The conviction comes after an investigation that began in May 2020 after the Oregon Department of Human Services received a report of abuse involving Andrews and a minor. Andrews is scheduled to be sentenced in September and will remain in custody until that time. (Fox12)
