Happy Monday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know to get this day started.

Occasional rain, mainly early. High: 52 Low: 50.

Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Rose International Market co-owner shares Nowruz traditions in an article by Christine Pitawanich. Beaverton's Sadri Manuchehri explains that Nowruz is Persian New Year, the culture's biggest celebration. The holiday was observed on Sunday, March 20. (KGW)
  2. Find out about one of Beaverton's most celebrated educators at Pamplin Media Group. Aki Mori is principal at McKinley Elementary, and he says empathy is the key to his success at the school. He makes a point of staying visible to staff and students, taking a desk in the school's hallway rather than an office. Learn more of his story at the article. 3. A local private school raised over $36,000 for heart research, Sally Segar reports. More than 200 Valley Catholic Elementary students participated in the Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser, collecting the most money out of all other participating schools in Oregon and Southwest Washington. 4. Better late than never: Don't miss Tigard's Drinks for Good week, which began March 14 and lasts through March 26. Purchase a special drink at any one of eight drinkeries, and $2 of the purchase will go towards Family Promise of Tualatin Valley, a nonprofit that supports those experiencing homelessness. 5. Take a look a five of the newest properties on the market in the Beaverton area over at the Beaverton Patch. Townhomes aplenty are on offer this week, including a two-unit selection in the swanky Forest Heights.
