Tanasbourne In-N-Out + 'Bait' Car Lures Crook + Open Mic Night

Stay up to date on what's going on around town with the Beaverton Daily.

(Patch Media)

Happy Thursday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening around town today.

First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 84 Low: 56.

Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. The Beaverton area is set to lose its Barnes & Nobles bookstore in October, with a possible In-N-Out Burger as a consolation. The fast-food company filed a land-use application for a Tanasbourne location back in April and has plans to demolish or reconfigure the bookstore's building. Not everyone is excited, though. Read Lizzy Acker's story at OregonLive to find out why people are complaining about the new addition (hint: It starts with 'T' and ends with 'raffic'). (OregonLive)
  2. One of the area's largest employers is postponing a return of employees to its campus due to the Delta variant surge. Nike had plans to bring workers back in person part-time starting yesterday, but a company spokesperson announced the milestone would be pushed out to a later date. There's no news regarding when company leaders expect that return to take place. (Willamette Week)
  3. If you're a college football fan, you may be delighted to find out that Beaverton High School alum Sam Noyer has been cast as starting quarterback for Oregon State. Noyer transferred to the team in June and had to battle it out against three other contenders to nab the starting position. Nick Daschel reports that Noyer and his family celebrated the news Sunday night at their home in Beaverton. (OregonLive)
  4. If a crime seems too easy, it just might be a trap. That's what one criminal learned in the early morning hours Tuesday when he stole items from a 'bait car' in Washington County. Sheriff's deputies had tagged the items with GPS locators, so they were quickly able to find the culprit, who they've identified as 28-year-old Sean Garner. (KPTV.com)
  5. Rescue workers reported a crash that left one person stuck in their car on Canyon Road near 217 Wednesday morning. TVF&R was able to extract the individual, although there are no reports regarding the extent of possible injuries at this time. Officials had asked folks to avoid the area for a few hours. (KOIN)
