Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- Oak Hills special ed. teacher Lori Therrien was named Regional Teacher of the Year by the Northwest Regional Education Service District. The award honors Therrien’s dedication to her students, high expectations and willingness to work alongside her students to help them achieve their goals. (NWRESD)
- Beaverton residents could be in line for more beefy goodness. In-N-Out Burger is eyeing a spot along Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. (KATU)
- Gaby Urenda reports that Beaverton’s Winston E. Gray, 31, has been convicted of various fraud charges. He was sentenced to four years in federal prison and three years of supervised release, and he is required to pay back the $60,000 he stole from over 80 credit union members. (Beaverton Valley Times)
- Inspired by the One School One Book program, students at Sexton Mountain Elementary have created a Wishing Tree. The colorful display features inscribed with students’ wishes. The installation is based on May Day traditions. (Beaverton School District)
- The Beaverton Garden Club had some “overdue fun” last week at their recently reinstated annual plant sale, reports Mark Miller. In-person activities had been previously suspended due to COVID-19. The 70-member club raised $6,200 for youth and school programs as well as club projects. (Beaverton Valley Times)

- Enjoy some fresh air and earn yourself a pat on the back by volunteering for the Community Garden Work Party at Mountain View Champions Park. (9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)
- Grab your artisan-woven basket (or a tote is just fine) and head to the Beaverton Farmer’s Market, located on SW Hall Blvd, between 3rd and 5th streets. (9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)
