Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- The teen charged with the death of Conestoga student Milana Li will remain in custody until his next hearing, Megan Allison reports. A juvenile court judge made the decision Friday, June 3. Officials earlier identified the suspect as 16-year-old Daniel Gore, who was on probation for other crimes at the time of the murder in early May. The court has yet to determine whether or not Gore will be treated as an adult or as a "waived youth in the adult system" for his trial. (KOIN.com)
- Beaverton's mayor, Lacey Beaty, shared her thoughts on gun control with reporter Laurel Porter on Friday. In the wake of the tragic shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Beaty said that she believes the federal government should pass additional regulation measures. She'd also like to see automatic weapons banned at the state level. Get the rest of Beaty's thoughts by watching the segment on KGW.com.
- June 4 marked 12 years since the disappearance of Kyron Horman, a student at Skyline Elementary in Northwest Portland. Despite one of the state's largest investigations, Horman was never found and no arrests were ever made in connection with his disappearance. Now, police have released a computer-generated image of what Horman might look like today. He would be 19 years old. (Portland Tribune)
- Providence St. Vincent nurses, who recently authorized a strike, reached an agreement with the hospital on Friday, June 3. Those involved with the negotiations said it took eight months for the groups to come to a consensus about fair work conditions and compensation. Providence Willamette Falls and Providence Milwaukie nurses have not yet reached an agreement with their respective employers. (Beaverton Valley Times)
