Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Beaverton restaurant Si Señor is frustrated by the lack of coordination between police departments. After a recent robbery in which an ATM and a laptop were stolen from the restaurant, it appears that the laptop was located in an apartment in Portland. Although local authorities tried to reach them, apparently they haven’t returned the calls. (KATU)
  2. Authorities have arrested two men in Aloha after an incident involving breaking into cars and menacing with a gun. The men face multiple drugs and weapons charges. The men have been lodged in the Washington County Jail. (KOIN)
  3. Friday night in Tigard was a time of tragedy for a mother and daughter. They were crossing Hall Boulevard and were struck by a car. The driver of the car did not stop to render aid. One woman was killed and the other woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. (KPTV)
  4. Jennifer Coyle returns to Forest Grove to take the reins at Pacific University as president. Coyle earned her degree at Pacific University and worked there in a number of different capacities. She left in 2019 to join the faculty at Southern California College of Optometry in Orange County. (Twitter)
  5. Damian Lillard showed up to a basketball game at Tualatin High School and the people of Twitter were all over it. He took pictures with the kids and gave out autographs. He stayed for the whole game. See a great photo here.

  • The weather is improving and one great way to enjoy it is to visit one of the many local parks like Tualatin Hills Nature Park at 15655 SW Millikan Way in Beaverton. This park offers 5 miles of trails in diverse environments such as wetland, forest and a stream. The Oak Trail and Vine Maple trails are wheelchair accessible. (All day)
  • Murray Scholls Library, 11200 SW Murray Scholls Place, has a family story hour with puppets, movement and music. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. No registration is required but space is limited.
  • 43rd Celebration of Creativity - Experience the works of over 90 artists in a variety of media will be featured with some works for sale. This is the last day of the event. (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

  • If you’ve ever wanted to become a lifeguard, Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation has your back. There are Red Cross certified classes which run from 3/21/22 through 3/24/22 for a cost of $41. Click on the link to register.
  • If you’d like to improve your gardening skills, the OSU Master Gardener site is offering a non-credit 12 week introductory course for a fee. If you’re looking for training in a specific garden area check out the 11 on-demand short courses, also online.
