The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

Good morning, people of Beaverton! It's me again, Ash DeMello, here to host the Friday edition of the Beaverton Daily.
First, today's weather:
Mostly cloudy, p.m. showers. High: 57 Low: 45.
Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:
- Nike stores remain open in Russia over a week after an announcement stating it planned to close its stores in the country. The Beaverton-based apparel company has shut down online orders made from the country, but many of the brick-and-mortar stores are said to be independently owned and still operating. Nike is offering continuity pay for employees of closed locations. (Reuters)
- Beaverton officials are looking to Portland camps for those experiencing homelessness to get ideas on how to address the problem locally. The problem looks different in the suburbs, say Washington County leaders, but there's still a need to address the crisis. (Fox 12 Oregon)
- Beaverton HS girls ranked as the No. 1 seed after COVID shut down the tournament just after the quarterfinals back in March 2020. Now, the team was back in the prime spot as it entered the semifinals Friday night. See how the team fared over at Fox 12 Oregon.
- Local nonprofit HOPE honors elders by helping them in their gardens. Founder Hen Truong was taught by his father the value of older members in the community, and he takes that lesson to heart through the efforts of his organization. Truong's organization seeks to help folks stay in their homes as long as possible by alleviating some of the strenuous yard maintenance. HOPE has a booth at the Beaverton Farmers Market for those looking to request assistance. (OregonLive)
- Learn more about Karson Leperi, the Beaverton engineer who appeared on Jeopardy! Thursday evening over at the Beaverton Patch. Leperi was ahead going into Final Jeopardy!, but didn't get the final question, which sent him back home.
