Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Beaverton's mayor, Lacey Beaty, voiced support for a bipartisan infrastructure plan that will provide about $1.2 trillion in spending over eight years. She joined 369 other mayors of U.S. cities in a joint letter dated July 13, including Portland, Gresham and Tigard. (Pamplin Media Group)
  2. State officials are investigating whether algae bloom in Hagg Lake contributed to a dog's death. The dog fell ill after swimming in the Washington County lake and later died. Officials are requesting others who may have experienced symptoms after swimming in Hagg Lake to contact the Oregon Health Authority. (KATU)
  3. Mountainside High School's new receiver Keenan Speer-Johnson is receiving offers and accolades as he decides about committing to a college. Among the schools he's considering are Maryland, Boise State and Nevada. (247 Sports)
  4. More beer options are heading our way! The new Portland-based SteepleJack Brewing announced it'll be expanding to Hillsboro, near ABV north of Highway 26, by early 2022. The location will feature a taproom, beer garden and kitchen, along with a small production brewery and canning line. (The New School)
  5. Class 6A Metro League announced the coach-selected all-league boys basketball players. The top honor of Player of the Year for the short 2020-21 season goes to Dane Erikstrup of Beaverton High School. (OregonLive)
