🌱 WashCo. Man Goes On Crime Spree + Cold Weather Shelters Open
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

Hey, Beaverton! It's special day for many community members, and so I hope you all are enjoying some time with loved ones or staying warm and comfy-cozy with favorite books, crafts or projects. Due to the holiday, news and events have been slim! Here's what I gathered for today.
First, today's weather:
A bit of snow and rain. High: 38 Low: 29.
Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- Anthony M. DeHerrera, 35, was arrested on Thursday after police say he went on a predawn crime spree throughout Washington County. Witnesses say DeHerrera, driving a stolen Ford F-150, hit the car of a person who was attempting to help him as well as two police cars, among other dangerous acts. He was charged with second-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, possession of a stolen vehicle, being a felon in possession of a weapon and attempting to elude police. - Learn more about a PCC student who fled war by bicycle and now runs a charitable foundation in Portland. Esmeraldo Silva was the son of a teacher, but violence prevented him from achieving the education he wanted before he had to leave his home country of Guinea-Bissau. Now, with the help of allies at Willamette University School of Law, Spalding serves as the CEO of the Professor Joaquim Silva Foundation, which directs COVID-19 resources to Guinea-Bissau, among other things. - Discover Oregon's top all-state 6A football stars at OregonLive. A vote of The state's coaches determine the all-state teams by vote. Local notables include offensive player of the year Malik Ross of Tualatin; co-coach of the year Dan Lever, also of Tualatin; and Darrius Clemons of Westview, senior, as wide receiver. - Washington County officials announced on Thursday, December 23, that it is opening two winter warming shelters. The shelters will be open to everyone, including pets, and hot meals will be available. Tap the link to get the addresses for the locations. (Fox12)
- Nike management's plans to return to an in-person workplace continue to be fleeting. The company stated earlier this month that it was targeting January 10 as the big day. Due to the omicron uptick, however, the apparel company's deciders say that's no longer the case. Get more details at Footwear News.
