🌱Vaccines For Kids Update + BPD Suffers COVID-Related Loss
The Beaverton Daily is the quickest way to get caught up on everything happening around town today.

Happy Wednesday, neighbors! It's me again, Ash DeMello, your host of the Beaverton Daily.
First, today's weather:
A little afternoon rain. High: 60 Low: 54.
Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:
- Get the latest vaccination info from Wade Irby, a pharmacist at Beaverton Pharmacy, regarding doses for kids under 12. Although the FDA approved a pediatric Pfizer vaccine last week, Irby says he's waiting to book any appointments until there are additional 'okays' from the CDC, the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workshop and the Oregon Healthy Authority. Beaverton Pharmacy has not yet received a shipment of the pediatric vaccines, which are prepared differently than adult doses. (KPTV.com)
- Beaverton Police mourn Sergeant Brian Gaunt, who passed away from COVID-19 related complications earlier this week. Gaunt was a 21-year-veteran of the Beaverton Police Department, where he served as a patrol officer, detective and K9 handler over the course of his career. A procession was held in his honor on Tuesday, November 2, following a private funeral service. (KATU)
- A Beaverton company has filed suit against Amazon, accusing the retail giant of unsafe and unreasonable driving conditions. Triton Transportation claims working with Amazon resulted in financial loss for the small business and injuries to its employees, who were forced to work long shifts and load/unload at an unreasonable pace, among other challenges. Triton Transportation is joined in the $15 million lawsuit by Last Mile Delivery of Vancouver. (eSellerCafe)
- Head over to KPTV.com to get a look at Beaverton's newest affordable housing building. The Mary Anne, located at 4601 Southwest Main Avenue, features 54 units slated for low-income families. So far, just 19 units have residents. The $22 million project is part of the city's plan to help those experiencing homelessness.
- WashCo Commissioners met Tuesday, voting 3 to 2 in favor of a ban on flavored nicotine products. The ordinance is a response to a 10 percent usage increase among youth of such products over the past few years. Although the community responded favorably in general, some sellers in the area requested the ordinance distinguish disposable vapes from hookah products, which they view as a cultural practice that isn't part of the problem.
