The latest from Beaverton, delivered right to your inbox.

Good day, people of Beaverton! Ash DeMello here with the latest Beaverton Daily.
First, today's weather: Mostly cloudy throughout the day. High: 75 Low: 57. I'm getting out my coats and blankets, people!
Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:
- Citing extraordinary strain on health and medical providers because of the COVID-19 Delta Variant, Washington County Board Chair Kathryn Harrington says the county is looking to improve enforcement capabilities to address violations of statewide masking and other requirements. Harrington states that a ban on indoor dining or other restrictions are not planned at this time. She recommends additional (and, by now, familiar) steps be taken, including using masks indoors and outdoors when physical distancing can't be maintained, avoiding unmasked crowds and large gatherings, maintaining 6-foot physical distance and limiting social gatherings to outdoors for the next six weeks. (Press Release Desk)
- Despite the Delta Variant surge, regional hotel performance is looking healthy, according to stats released by the Washington County Visitors Association. The week of August 8-14, 2021, saw occupancy levels in the 80th percentile on weekends and 60th to 76th percentiles during the week. The organization characterizes the numbers as "rebounding." That seems to pretty much mean we have a normal-ish amount of visitors to the area, for better or worse. (Washington County Visitors Association)
- A common route from Beaverton to downtown will be closed from August 23 until spring, Kelcie Grega reports. Cornell Avenue will be closed to vehicles from just after Skyline (NW 53rd Avenue) to about Lovejoy (NW 30th Avenue) for repairs on two tunnels. The road will remain open for local access, bikes and pedestrians. (Pamplin Media Group)
- Syndicate Wine Bar offered a rundown of the outcome of City Council's changes to the Street Seat program, which affects the popular watering hole as well as other Beaverton businesses that thrived outdoors during the pandemic. Changes include reducing tent usage to 180 days per year, a wooden platform requirement for street seating and no street seating in Syndicate's driveway, which was the business's spot for live music. Syndicate estimates the changes will decrease its income by about 50 percent. (Instagram)
- Looking for a comprehensive update from City Hall? The City of Beaverton posted a list of all the important goings-on from this week. Highlights include a rundown of the latest city council meeting, the new city manager's upcoming first day (August 23), the Cooper Mountain Online open house, current city job openings and much more.
