🌱WashCo In Need Of 3,500 Workers + East African Charity Dinner

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Morning, Beaverton! It's Monday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

Occasional rain and drizzle. High: 64 Low: 47.

Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:

  1. A Westside golf course is expected to raise rates in the near future in order to finance enhancements necessary to host a Saudi Arabian government-backed tournament. Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains announced earlier this month that it would be increasing initiation fees to $25,000 in order to improve the facilities ahead of the LIV tournament. Pumpkin Ridge's Texas-based owners said to expect increases to membership fees as well. (Willamette Week)
  2. Delays ahead: A number of Washington County infrastructure and large-scale building projects are facing increasingly tight schedules because of a labor shortage. In addition to a lack of qualified workers, there's also a lack of housing in WashCo for said qualified workers should they sign on to a job. In all, the county is in need of approximately 3,500 laborers. Get the full scope of the problem at KOIN.com.
  3. The City of Beaverton announced this year's Beaverton Arts Mix (BAM!) schedule via Twitter on Friday, March 25. The local show will take place in October, with applications opening in May. Click here to see the 2021 winners and get more details.
  4. Ugali anyone? The LifeChange Center in Beaverton is teaming with the Tigard Breakfast Rotary Club and the Harambee Centre to host an East African cooking class on April 9. residents of the LifeChange Center, a transitional recovery facility, will have the chance to learn techniques from local Kenyan cuisine aficionado, Grace Kuto. The residents will showcase their new skills at a charity dinner later that evening. (Pamplin Media Group: Click here if you have a paid subscription; click here for free access via your WCCLS login)
