Here are the top stories in Beaverton today:

  1. Start planning the fun runs now because rabid bats have been found in Portland and Beaverton, local officials say. One Beaverton resident discovered a rabid bat in their home on September 10, and the household pets involved in that instance have received the necessary vaccinations along with a 45-day quarantine. Washington County folks who find a bat or whose pet may have been bitten by a bat should call Washington County Public Health at 503-846-3594. (KPTV.com)
  2. More on the upcoming Beaverton Restaurant Week: Michael Russel reports with a list of nearly 40 participating restaurants. The 10-day event returns for its fifth year starting September 23. Head to the First Street Dining Commons to enjoy outdoor dining and a children's play area. (OregonLive)
  3. A local spot made Eater Portland's list of the Most Anticipated Portland Restaurant Openings for Fall and Winter 2021. The Breakside Beaverton Food Cart Pod and Beer Garden got its shout-out from Eater's Brooke Jackson-Glidden on Tuesday, with special attention going to the major Portland offshoots of Matt's BBQ and Farmer & The Beast. Wear a hoodie and cut-offs to the opening at 12680 SW Farmington Road, slated for as soon as October. (Eater Portland)
  4. Hip-hip-hoorah to our local parks & rec! THPRD earned both the Public Involvement Project of the Year in the United States and the Core Values Award for Respect for Diversity, Inclusion, and Culture for its planning processes from the International Association for Public Participation. The honors mean that the agency will go on to represent the United States on the world stage later this fall. (Pamplin Media Group)
  5. Finance nerds and tech nerds ("nerd" is here used with the utmost affection) will rejoice with the news that Beaverton's Tektronix has introduced software intended to speed up semiconductor chip production. I am super not qualified to summarize the linked article, but I think it means cars might get cheaper soon. Tektronix says the S530 Series Parametric Test System is now available worldwide, with pricing provided upon request. (Yahoo Finance)
