🌱WashCo Tobacco Ban On Hold + Paris Baguette Opens!

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Beaverton.

(Patch Media)

Welcome back, Beaverton! Let's get you all caught up to start this day off on an informed note.

First, today's weather:

Chilly with rain at times. High: 47 Low: 36.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Washington County's ban on flavored tobacco products is on hold after petitioners gathered enough signatures to take the issue to the voters in May. The initiative was led by Plaid Pantry CEO Jonathan Polonsky, who says the ordinance cost them 20 percent of their business. The ban, which initially went into effect in January, was the first of its kind in Oregon. (Fox12)
  2. Need help with your taxes? The City of Beaverton announced that the Free Tax Assistance program has returned. It began on January 29. Learn how to sign up to participate at the Press Release Desk.
  3. It may be hard to believe, but it's already (almost) time to start thinking about mowing the grass again. The City of Beaverton offered the reminder to tackle grass and weeds before they become a code complaint. Click over to see what to do to stay compliant. (Twitter)
  4. The Portland State Vikings women's tennis team met its fate at the Tualatin Hills Babette Horenstein Tennis Center on Friday. The team lost its home opener to the University of Portland despite putting up a hard battle. (Portland State Vikings)
  5. There are some new beers to be had in the area, according to the Oregonian's 'Beer Guy,' Andre Meunier. Great Notion Brewery and McMenamins announced a collab, which resulted in two new brews. Taste the final products — Ruby Jammin and Jammin' with Ruby — for yourself at one of the local watering holes, such as the Cedar Hills Pub and Timberland Town Center's Great Notion Beaverton.
