Washington County Crime: Woman Pleads Guilty to Harassing Chamber of Commerce President

Woman who was leading effort to open domestic violence center pleads guilty.

A woman who was leading an effort to open a domestic violence center in Washington County pleaded guilty Thursday to harassing the president of the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce.

Tanya Richards, who resigned from her job helping launch The Family Justice Center of Washington County, entered a plea of guilty to one count of harassment.

Two other charges were dropped as part of the deal.

She also had to agree to stay away from the building where the chamber has their office.

Richards had been friendly with the chamber president, Lorraine Clarno.

Police said that the relationship took a turn in 2014 when Richards increased the times she was contacting Clarno despite being asked not to.

It eventually reached the point that Clarno sought the help of Beaverton Police who warned Richards.
