Washington County Deputy Injured In Traffic Accident Monday
Motorcycle deputy Mark Demmer was on-duty when a 29-year-old woman collided with his motorcycle on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway.
BEAVERTON, OR — A Washington County Sheriff's Office motorcycle deputy suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a Volvo SUV Monday morning in Beaverton.
According to the sheriff's office, nine-year veteran Mark Demmer was on traffic duty around 11 a.m. Nov. 13 in the 9800-block of Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, near McCormick's Fish House & Bar, when a gray 2005 Volvo XC90 pulled out and collided with his patrol motorcycle. The driver of the Volvo, a 29-year-old Beaverton woman, stayed at the crash and cooperated with the subsequent investigation, police said.
Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor, though the woman was reportedly cited for failing to yield.
