- Read more about a local entrepreneur over at 750 KXL. Anne Johnson owns Mamancy Tea & Chocolates with a store in Beaverton and one in Hillsboro. You can find Johnson's handmade chocolates and curated tea selections at her shops as well as online at the Northwest Made Holiday Market, which features 100 BIPOC and women-owned businesses in Oregon and Washington.
- The Beaverton School District was recently recognized at the 2nd Annual Synergy Achievement Awards Program for its success through the pandemic year. BSD was given honorable mention along with $1000. The awards were sponsored by Edupoint Educational Systems. (Yahoo Finance)
- A sex abuse suspect has been indicted in a series of assaults in Washington County. Adam Trent Jackson, 44, was is accused of incidents involving three women in Washington County in October and November. Two of the incidents occurred in downtown Beaverton. Police are seeking possible other victims. (Beaverton Patch)
- Meet the winners of the West Side Startup Challenge over at the Portland Business Journal (subscription required). The recipients included a consumer app that connects parents to activities for the fam, another app that connects athletes to training spaces, a crafting kit company/bar and two sauce makers. Recipients receive a cash prize plus incubation services from the Oregon Technology Business Center.
- The Beaverton School District recently announced its newest scholarship opportunity, the Verna Bailey "Be the Change" Scholarship. Bailey was the first Black woman to graduate from the University of Mississippi in 1968. She then went on to work in the Beaverton School District for 39 years, retiring in 2013 as the principal of Montclair Elementary. (District News)
