Hey, people of Beaverton! Ash DeMello here with your Tuesday issue of the Beaverton Daily.

First, today's weather:

Intervals of clouds and sun. High: 50 Low: 35.

Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton:

  1. Two Beaverton spots received shout-outs from Portland Monthly's article, "Where to Find the Best Wings in Portland." Chettinad Cuisine (14125 SW Walker Rd.) earned praise for its Tandoori wings, Tamil Nadu regional favorites and pan-Indian favorites. Downtown's 1st Street Pocha won accolades for Seoul-style wings, with the additional comment from writer Jordan Michelman that "Everything here is perfect, all the better for the glowing evening city vibes in thriving downtown Beaverton."
  2. Beaverton native Cameron Brink, now playing for Stanford, was announced as the Pac-12's women's basketball player of the week on February 7. The accomplished sophomore was most recently applauded for a career-high 26 points in an 83-57 victory over USC on Sunday. (buffzone.com)
  3. One of the minds behind light rail expansion to Beaverton and Hillsboro in the 90s has died. Tom Walsh, builder and former TriMet general manager, passed away Thursday, February 3, at the age of 81. Walsh led the transit agency from 1991 to 1998. Included in his tenure was the construction of the MAX tunnel through the West Hills, which features the deepest subway station in the United States. (Mass Transit Magazine)
  4. A local chip manufacturer is set to expand production and is set to hire hundreds of workers for chip factories in the Metro area. Massachusetts-based Analog Devices, Inc., (ADI) has two nearby campuses: one in Camas, Washington, and one on Greenbriar Parkway in Beaverton. The Oregon location is ADI's largest factory. (OregonLive)
  5. Meet the latest Beaverton-area pets who are up for adoption over at the Beaverton Patch. Furry friends like Star the cat and Mr. Ed (thought to be a Jack Russell Terrier) are waiting for some luvin'.
