Read the latest edition the Beaverton Daily! This is your go-to for all things going on in town.

Good day, neighbors! Welcome to your brand-new copy of the Beaverton Daily for Thursday, October 7. Read on for news about nasty neighbors, a local employer's return-to-office plans and a few options for getting out-and-about (at least virtually) today.
First, today's weather:
Sunshine and a few clouds. High: 61 Low: 40.
Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:
- If ever you feel bad about your current neighbors, remember that at least they're not 'zombie condo' squatters. Jenny Young reports on a condo in a quaint complex in Southwest Beaverton that became a real nuisance and danger for neighbors after the owner died about two years ago and squatters moved in. One resident says that he and his fellow condo owners have had to call the police on the squatters 175 times. They've even had to put out fires at the location. Read more about the difficult situation at KOIN.com.
- With October 10 being World Mental Health Day and National Mental Illness Awareness Week running from October 3 to 9, Beaverton School District is devoting a week to mental health and suicide prevention. Leslie Rodgers, safety and wellness specialist for BSD, says she's observed both students and adults struggling more this year than in previous ones. Discover more about these important district-wide efforts at KGW.com.
- Head over to KATU to find out more about Nike's plan to require COVID-19 vaccinations for office-based employees. The mandate is in line with federal guidelines for companies with more than 100 workers. Nike's statement also revealed return-to-office plans targeting January 10, 2022.
- Two people went to a hospital Tuesday evening after a crash on Highway 26 near Buxton. The highway was closed in both directions as emergency workers addressed the scene. There's no info on the extent of injuries. (KOIN.com)
- It's unofficially official: Ashley Hartmeier-Prigg has been elected to Beaverton City Council Position 1 following the September 21 elections. Hartmeier-Prigg faced a runoff with Jerome Sibayan after inconclusive results in May. The Beaverton City Council approved Hartmeier-Prigg as an Interim City Councilor until her win is certified.
