• 13-year-old dies after hit-and-run crash while riding e-scooter; driver charged with manslaughter (wandtv.com) — Canby is mourning 13-year-old Quinn Broyles, who died after a hit-and-run while riding an e-scooter, in what police say is the city's first such fatality this year. A 31-year-old driver has been jailed on manslaughter and related charges, while Quinn's family and Canby police are sharing her story and thanking the community for its support during an especially painful time.

A 31-year-old driver was later arrested on manslaughter and related charges, while Quinn's family, speaking through Canby police, remembered her leadership and asked for privacy as the case proceeds.
   

• National Park Service Lists Two Former City Halls in the National Register of Historic Places (oregon.gov) — Canby's former City Hall on Holly Street has just been added to the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its 1937 Colonial Revival design and long service as the city's civic hub. The listing can help protect the landmark, open doors to preservation grants and tax benefits, and gives Canby residents another officially recognized piece of New Deal-era history in their downtown.
