• A little free library, but for trinkets and treasures (klcc.org) — New trinket trading boxes are popping up across Eugene and Springfield, including at Sparrow Nest Coffee downtown, inviting neighbors to swap tiny toys and art on a take-one-leave-one basis. Mapped through the Sidewalk Joy project, eight local boxes are already listed, and residents can easily register their own to join a growing worldwide network of playful exchanges.
• Ducks take step forward after scrimmage (kval.com) — Oregon Ducks coaches in Eugene say this has been one of the defense's strongest fall camps yet, with a sharp scrimmage followed by what they call an elite practice. Defensive line coach Tony Tuioti and quarterbacks coach Koa Ka'ai highlight veteran leadership, fast-developing young linemen, and improving QBs as the team builds toward its Sept. 5 season opener against Boise State.
