Armed Student Arrested on School Roof During Dance
Confronted by a school safety officer, the student said he didn't want to hurt anyone, he was just looking to protect other students.
A student with guns and ammo was taken into custody over the weekend by a school safety officer who noticed him on the roof of Sam Barlow High School in Gresham. It happened Saturday night as a the school's Winter Ball was happening.
Gresham Police say that Officer Jeff Culp noticed what he thought was a suspicious person dressed in dark clothes on the roof near the student parking lot.
Culp confronted went to the roof and confronted the person, identifying him as an underage student.

The student was cooperative and said he was there in a security capacity to ensure the safety of students. He told Culp that he had no intention of hurting anyone.
Culp found two unloaded handguns and ammunition.

The teen was taken into custody and booked into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center on weapons possession charges.
The high school and police department are working together as the investigation continues. No additional information is available at this time.
