Baby Rescued, Man in Custody After Overnight Standoff with Gresham Police

Police respond to domestic disturbance, man barricades himself and baby in home all night.

GRESHAM, OR — Officers took a man into custody on Thursday morning after he spent the night barricaded inside an apartment with a baby. The incident started around 11:30 p.m. near Gresham High School in the 200 block o NE Division Street, Gresham Police Officer Ben Costigan told KOIN 6 News.

Police were initially notified of a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman.

The woman was able to get outside the apartment and notify police. Authorities attempted to negotiate with the man through the night and eventually went inside and took him into custody and rescued the baby around 5:30 a.m.
