Mother And Son Shot In Gresham Monday Morning, Police Say
The shooting occurred at an apartment complex around 4:30 a.m. May 22. No arrests have been made, no suspects identified.

GRESHAM, OR — A 9-year-old boy and his 29-year-old mother were both shot in Gresham Monday morning, according to police. News reports from the scene indicate the pair may have been targeted, though Gresham police spokeswoman Malaka Kerbs could not confirm that for Patch.
Around 4:30 a.m. May 22, police responding to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex in the 1300-block of Northeast 183rd Avenue found the boy and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital in critical condition.
According to Kerbs, someone from inside an apartment called 911 to report the shooting, but whether it was the woman who was shot or someone else is unknown.

From KOIN News reporter Brent Weisberg:
Police could not immediately confirm if there was more than one shooter; however, (Gresham Police spokesperson Detective Adam Baker) said the preliminary investigation shows that suspect(s) entered the apartment.
Police have not said how many bullets were fired nor have they identified the type of weapon(s) that were used.
Baker said the East Metro Gang Task Force will be helping the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team with the investigation. Police have not said whether or not they believe the shooting was gang related.
Neighbor Ed Galberth said he heard around 3 gunshots, but did not see anything. Galdberth said shootings in the neighborhood were fairly common. In April 2017, an apartment building was struck by gunfire near the intersection of Northeast 183rd and Northeast Wasco.
Police have closed Northeast 183rd from Northeast Barr to Northeast Wasco Street. The roadway will likely be closed well into Monday afternoon.
Gresham Police Capt. Claudio Grandjean responded to the scene and received a briefing from patrol supervisors and detectives. He said as of 6:30 a.m., no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 503-823-3333.
Police have not released any suspect information related with this incident, Kerbs said.
This investigation is ongoing. Patch will update this post when more information becomes available.
